Tricks to get more things done during the Work Day

Tricks to get more things done during the Work Day

We always dream about succeeding in our lives. Many of us even have a roadmap to it. But, in the frenzy of achieving big things, we forget that we need to start with small daily achievements first.

We need to learn the easy yet not so easy tips and tricks and focus on making the most of our days.

Here, we’ve disclosed some of the things we do to make our days more productive. I hope they help you get things done.

  • Listen to music while performing tasks

This can help you increase your productivity. Yes! You heard it right. According to research, instrumental music increases focus and creativity while performing tasks. But for this to work, make sure that you listen to songs that have more music compared to lyrics and at a lower volume.

  • Reduce distractions

We live in an era of technology where we get distracted easily with constant messages, social media notifications, emails, calls, etc. Thus, while you are doing any important task, make sure that your phone is off or at least in a “Do Not Disturb” mode.

We are habituated to responding to calls, emails, messages, etc. immediately and wasting our time scrolling over social media mindlessly. The digital distraction not only minimizes our productivity but it also makes us less creative. Hence, it is better to stay away from these distractions while doing any type of work or studying which requires your 100% focus. Additionally, I would also recommend not to use mobile phone 45 minutes before going to bed and after you wake up. Instead, be with yourself and manifest the kind of day you want to have.

  • Avoid multitasking

According to research done by the University of Sussex, multitasking decreases the gray matter in the brain known as the Anterior Cingulate Cortex (ACC). It is related to our emotional balance, creativity and decision making skills. Hence, it would be wise to avoid multitasking.

If you are used to it, then don’t give yourself a sudden push. Instead, start slow. What you can do is, keep reminding yourself to finish one task at a time.

Many people ask me why multitasking is a big NO. My answer is simple: our brain is accustomed to doing one thing at a time with 100% attention. In reality, it is not possible to multitask, period. Just imagine, you are watching a movie on your mobile with five chat heads open and at the same time emailing someone. At one point, your brain gets tired and confused. And that will definitely not bring any positive output. Instead, you will create a mess while emailing or sending messages and of course you won’t be able to enjoy your movie either.

Rather, focus on one thing and accomplish that task properly.

  • Prepare to-do list before going to bed

Preparing a to-do list helps you align your thoughts about what tasks you have to do the next day. Additionally, while jotting down your tasks, you could add other details like how you will be doing each task, the time it requires to finish, etc. to build a clear roadmap. A roadmap makes it easier for you to accomplish the tasks the next day as you have already figured out things and your brain is prepared to finish it.

Another reason to prepare a to-do list is that at the end of the day when all your tasks are accomplished, you’ll feel satisfied and have a sense of victory. On a personal note, don’t forget to treat yourself with some present (it could be anything) at the end of the day as it will encourage you to achieve more the next day.

Try out these simple tasks to not only make your day productive but also help you in your daily lives. It will help you grow as an individual and as a professional too. Ultimately, you’ll be achieving those big dreams of yours. Trust me, we all have that power within, it’s just we need to untap it in a correct way.

And yes, don’t forget this when you ever feel lost “The Mind Which Created Google Is Bigger Than Google”. Hence, use it to the best and bring out the best of yourself.
