TRIC Chair 2022-2023 - BOOM!

Like all good things, my tenure as TRIC Chair has come to an end. It has been an honour and privilege to represent TRIC Awards (TV & Radio Industries Club) to change perceptions within the industry.

It's been an exciting two years as Chair and as I reflect on my chairmanship, I've got to admit, modernising this very traditional of organisation has been a welcome challenge.

Expanding the work of previous Chairs Richard Lindsay-Davies & Jane Ostler, the rebranding of TRIC as a progressive, all inclusive and representative organisation was my goal and despite some challenges in opinion, we did it. TRIC is back bigger and better than ever not only as a conversation piece but also relevance.

Its ability to engage as a marketing tool is demonstrated by the 5.8 million social media engagements in 2023. Today TRIC can stand proud with its logo emblazoned across multiple programmes including Good Morning Britain, also channels such as Talk TV and Cristiano Ronaldo who has given us his seal of approval personally for his TRIC award winning Piers Morgan interview.

With over 1.6 million votes cast in 2023, the 54th TRIC Awards were the biggest ever, and our pink carpet captivated celebrities and guests alike, in-fact a record breaking 1200 guests stepped through, our largest attended TRIC Awards yet, supported by our fabulous headline sponsor Euronics UK (CIH Ltd)

The Television & Radio Industries Club is a not-for-profit organisation which raises funds for good causes, on behalf of the broadcast media community and its associated industries.

As my fellow colleague Alexia Sciplino pointed out - in my two year tenure we've managed to steer TRIC into waters not ventured before - hitting record revenue targets - achieved record breaking votes of 1.6M for the voting campaign - continued to build the TRIC brand - firmly cementing it onto the national TV and Radio Awards scene – some have said - giving the TV Baftas and NTAs a serious run for their money - and worked with the team to ensure that the Club is in a profitable and more stable position coming out of the pandemic. These are all very proud moments.

A passion project is something you truly believe in and expect nothing in return. TRIC is the embodiment of this. Along the way I have had to bat back unjustified criticism and personal jibes at my approach. My job was to develop and transform TRIC and that was what I remained focused on doing.

I chose to throw myself in and do this alongside running my own business. The TRIC team, Alexia Sciplino , Sue Green & Ali Ball are a tight team, with direction and a sense of purpose who I know will continue to carry the flag for TRIC and take it to even greater heights, break down those barriers and continue to win over the naysayers.

I'm proud of our achievements and finally I'd like to thank our Presidents, Agents, Talent, Broadcasters, Partners, Charities, Sponsors and more importantly all those who take part - Thank you for believing in TRIC and supporting TRIC, because without you it just can't happen. I’m confident that you will continue to do so with the same gusto, generosity of spirit and…bigger budgets.
