Tribute to a real guru!

A person who inspired, pushed, admonished, praised, cared for, and inspired thousands of students and touched lakhs of lives is no more. The news came as a shock and it is still hard to believe. Gone too soon!

One of the most loved and revered professors of our college over the years.

I vividly remember my first encounter with you. Just outside the then E&E department scooter stand. I along with Asad stopped you and requested to teach us microprocessors. Half of the year had gone by and I did not know anything. I couldn’t understand a thing of what our assigned professor had been teaching us. You reluctantly asked us to join your class from next day. Within less than a week I was way ahead of the entire class. You could weave that kind of magic! Ironically, our last picture together is exactly at the same place where we first met.

I am sure all your students over the years would have stories to share about you. I have many. Of your ability to inspire instant camaraderie, your zeal, your affection, your anger, your benevolence, and your care.

-Your outburst at a fellow professor for having failed me in a practical.

-You encouraging me to teach juniors as you were getting swamped with tuition requests.

-My adamancy when I stopped attending your lectures at college.

-Your refusal to accept tuition money from me in the final year.

-Your indignation at my final year results.

There are so many more because our relationship was unique! And so was probably the relationship of every student with you. That’s the kind of person you were. You made all your students feel special.

I can go on and on, but I guess I'll have to stop somewhere, even if the tears do not.

All your students will miss you. I will miss you a little more. But you already know that!
