In Tribute to Pierre Dinan, G.O.S.K.

Mauritius Finance is deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Pierre Dinan, G.O.S.K, a distinguished economist and one of the pioneers of Mauritius’ financial services sector. His illustrious career included significant roles at the Development Bank of Mauritius, the Mauritius Chamber of Agriculture, the Mauritius LSE Society Trust Fund, and in well-established private companies. He also held notable positions as Director of the Indian Ocean International Bank, board member of the UK Investment Trust, and member of the Mauritius Institute of Directors. Mr. Dinan participated in several missions of MOBAA to promote the offshore sector in Asian and European capitals. He also chaired the committee which recommended regulatory frameworks for Collective Investment Funds. His contributions to the financial services sector were recognised during Mauritius Finance’s 30th anniversary celebration.

Throughout his career, Mr. Dinan was known for his financial acumen and dedication to excellence. He served as a respected member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of Mauritius until his passing. An accomplished author, Mr. Dinan penned two books on the Mauritian economy, Dix Ans D’Economie Mauricienne?and?La République de Maurice - Retrospective et Perspectives 1980-2030, and compiled articles spanning 1967 to 2014 in?Regards sur cinq décennies d’analyse économique et politique. Pierre Dinan’s legacy will endure as a cornerstone of Mauritius’ economic history. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.
