Tribute to my Dad

You sprung me in the air

And I laughed without a care

'Coz I knew you were always there.

No human nor fate could ever dare

To hurt me 'coz you were there!

For years we were quite a pair

The little gal and daddy bear! 

We had same eyes, nose and hair.

We had a certain likely flair!

We read sitting curled in the same chair,

We liked to eat the same fare !

As years drew past fast and fair

As I grew up more aware,

Adolescence brought all its scare.

In my teens I know I was hard to bear,

Twenties had my head in the air,

Then maturity brought wisdom rare;

And thru' it all you were there !

Through all my battles and dare

Through all my shadows and glare

Through all my falls and despair

Through all my triumphs spare

All the time you were there!!

You taught me : 

To be fair

Even when your foe laid bare,

When you are right hold the stare,

When you have always share,

Don't break what you can't repair, 

Let adamance and ego not ensnare.

If I faulted you were there!

We tussled like two grizzly bears

And yet I was in your every prayer.

On my first pay rolled down a tear

But I saw you taller an inch I swear!

I wasn't afraid to fly higher

'coz I knew you were always there!

And then ..

On 9th of May

The doomed day 

Death held its sway 

And took you away ..

We tried to delay

But to our dismay

Angels had their way!

You left like you lived --

-- A king of hearts 

-- A man among men

-- A friend so loved

-- A loss so grieved!

And now that you are not there,

Years have passed, a score and more

I do still miss you beyond compare.

Life has dealt several hands unfair,

In the dark I hold out my hand a-fear,

I get a touch full of care

I get the strength from somewhere,

I know you are always there !!
