TRIBUTE TO GUMEL EMIR WHO CLOCKS 40 YEARS ON THRONE!
“ALLAH JA ZAMANIN SARKI!”
I am glad and happy to celebrate the 40 years of traditional leadership spent by our esteem, amiable and friendly royal highness, the Emir of Gumel, Alh. Ahmed Muhammad Sani II.
His Royal Highness spent these fruitful number of years leading the people in the emirate with respect, good royalty leadership, knowledge and wisdom.
The most fascinating character displayed and I admired so much about his quality was his being closeness to everybody regardless of wealth or position.
We celebrate the occasion as at the same time, celebrating the conformant of one of its illustrious son of the emirate who was elected into the office of the Vice Chancellor of Federal University, Dutse, in the person of Professor Abdulkarim Mohammed Sabo.
Professor Abdulkarim was the first indigenous Vice Chancellor in the State to hold the position despite the fact that he has been the Deputy Vice Chancellor at the University.
Many Professors and Doctors were produced in the emirate within the last 40 years according to wishes and aspirations of His Royal Highness, Alh. Ahmed Muhammadu Sani II.
This was a great achievement for his royal highness who always wanted to promote and uplift the emirate in the educational pursuits of the people. Advance Teachers’ College, Gumel was renamed and known as Jigawa State College of Education, Gumel. Now, efforts are being geared despite strong challenges facing the College towards making it Federal College of Education, Gumel.
The Emir does not discriminate between the rich and the poor; the young and the old. He believes in dialogue and free speech in airing views to refresh minds in any topical issues affecting people whether at local, state or national levels.
For any public gathering where highly distinguished personalities are involved and the Emir of Gumel was fortunate to be there as Guest Speaker, it was a matter of sit and relax to listen to a vocal, eloquent and vibrant royal tunes making you forget all your worries.
His Royal Highness was a retired seasoned Civil Servant and Strong Politician who mixed freely with anybody. If you are not told, you may not say he was one of the royal family from Gumel.
He was educated at Ohio University of the United States of America where he obtained Bachelor’s Degree as well as Master’s Degree in Political Science from 1971 to 1975.
Due to his popularity and acceptability in Gumel emirate, he contested the position of a Senator under the flagship of Great Nigeria Peoples Party (GNPP), a party that later merged with the party of late Kano State Gov. Abubakar Rimi.
He was appointed Commissioner for Information by late Gov. Abubakar Rimi in which he did not stay long with the position and the unexpected happened!
He was enthroned as the 16th New Emir of Gumel in 1981 after the death of his great and lovely father where the present Emir ‘copy and paste’ his lifestyles, behaviors, good manners and style of royal leadership.
“Like Father, Like Son”. He replaced his good and respectable father, His Royal Highness, late Alh. Muhammadu Sani. May Allah Grant Him the Highest Respected Al-Jannatul Firdaus A’ala. Amin.
May Allah bless the Son, His Royal Highness, Alh. Ahmed Muhammadu Sani II (CON) to keep the good things associated with the people and May Allah continue granting him the wisdom to lead the people in the next 40 years to come.
