At the Tribeca Film Festival, Swap the Popcorn for VR Headsets
What's New Now 4/23/18 At the moment, VR headsets and VR content are aimed at gamers, with a few artful demos thrown in to show what the platform can do. But that's changing. Amazon is launching Sumerian, a 3D development platform that will allow developers to build AI-powered hosts, and virtual reality is a big part of this year's Tribeca Film Festival. Talented artists, directors, and, yes, some programmers are showing off the evolving state of VR art and storytelling. PCMag's Chandra Steele and Zlata Ivleva visited the Virtual Arcade Featuring Storyscapes exhibit, which lets you explore 33 VR-based films. If you're in New York City, it's open until April 28; for everyone else, check out Chandra's report. --Dan Costa
