1. Exploring Bitcoin in the University: Preparing a Foundation for Widespread Adoption - from Bitcoin Magazine

  • The Scoop???♂? It’s no secret that both students and professors are increasingly exploring providing and obtaining an??education in Bitcoin. As one of the most important technologies of our lifetimes, understanding how Bitcoin works is now critical to a future career in much the same way as understanding the internet how is. Moreover, as it has become impossible to ignore the systemic issues inherent in the ?? global economy, many students and professors have become interested in the sound money principals that Bitcoin enforces, which closely align with Austrian economics.
  • Why you should care ?? Across the world the race is on to ensure that the talent pipeline coming out of universities is bitcoin-native.???? El Salvador is undoubtedly winning the race as the home of the not-for-profit Mi Primer Bitcoin whose curriculum has been deployed across schools in El Salvador and is now being adapted for the Salvadoran universities. Not far behind is?? Texas A&M who announced earlier this year that they would begin teaching Bitcoin at the university. Moreover, those who would like to learn about Bitcoin free of charge can complete billionaire Michael Saylor’s Bitcoin certification .??Don’t get left behind! Start now.

2. Senator Elizabeth Warren strikes again… - from Sam Lyman for Forbes

  • The Scoop ???♂?A report inaccurately claimed that Hamas raised over $130 million through cryptocurrency, prompting Senator Elizabeth Warren and 104 Congress members to label crypto a "national security threat" and urge White House intervention. However, this figure has been contested by blockchain analytics firms Elliptic and Chainalysis, stating the actual amount linked to terrorism is likely overstated and misrepresented in the cited data.
  • Why You Should Care ??Crypto's association with illicit activities has been a point of contention in policy debates. With misinformation potentially shaping legislative decisions, it's crucial to discern fact from fiction. Blockchain experts challenge the inflated figures, suggesting a need for accurate data in crafting regulations. Moreover, the rationale makes little sense. Fiat is used much more widely in money laundering. Perhaps the US should consider banning fiat? The outcome of this debate, influenced by lawmakers like Senators Warren and Lummis, could significantly impact the future of digital asset innovation and its role in the U.S. economy.

Must-Have Tool: BitStream - Decentralised File Hosting Incentivised via Bitcoin Payments

Summary: The whitepaper titled "BitStream: Decentralised File Hosting Incentivised via Bitcoin Payments " written by Robin Linus introduces a system designed to address the economic challenges of decentralised file hosting networks. ?? BTW, this is the same dude who created BitVM…he’s been busy ??

Usability: Like BitVM, this is a very new tool. However, it took just 1 day for the first proof-of-concept to be created (see below).

Why It’s Essential: There are many benefits to decentralised file hosting, most importantly it allows for resiliency as files do not sit in a single location where they are vulnerable; in addition, decentralised file hosting provides censorship resistance.???

The current systems do not offer a sustainable economic model for servers that host and allow file downloads, often leading to bandwidth costs that can outweigh earnings from data hosting. This is because even though payment is made for the hosting service, not the download service. So, if a piece of content is hosted once but downloaded thousands of times, the server doing the hosting will pay more than it receives. ??

First Steps: The proposed solution is a "pay-to-download" approach, where servers can charge for each download of a file. This ensures that the server's revenue scales with the file's popularity and demand. The core idea is to perform an atomic swap of coins for files, allowing an open market for content hosting where anyone can monetise their bandwidth and data storage capacities. ??

The whitepaper was released 11th November, and by the 12th there was already a proof of concept built by Calle. Bitcoin technology moving at the speed of lightning again. ???
