TRI Be Yourself Spotlight: Meet Ralph Parks

TRI Be Yourself Spotlight: Meet Ralph Parks

Black History Month is an opportunity to celebrate and pay tribute to Black achievement. It is also a fresh reminder to take stock of persisting racial inequities or injustices and set collective intentions as organizations, individuals, and as a nation to make good on the promise of equality for all.?

At TRI, we honor diverse views, history, personality, character, and experiences. We encourage team members to bring their full selves to work every day. In honor of Black History Month, we want to give visibility to a critical member of our team to share his views on this topic.?

We are excited to introduce our next team member for the TRI Be Yourself Spotlight series. Please meet Ralph Parks, who manages TRI’s security and safety team.

What do you do at TRI?

I lead Security & Safety at TRI. I oversee the development and implementation of policies and procedures that keep everyone at TRI safe.??

What do you love most about what you do?

I love to protect what we refer to as the 4 P’s of Safety: People, Proprietary Information, Product, and Property.?

To do so, I use human factors engineering and design principles to develop our safety and security technology system. I also use behavioral science techniques to design policies and procedures that protect TRI’s most important assets: our people!

February is Black History Month, which celebrates the achievements African Americans have made throughout US history. Who are some African American figures who have? inspired you in your life??

The two most important and inspirational African American figures in my life have been my father and mother. They taught me to seek knowledge, exercise wisdom, show understanding, use discernment, and develop critical thinking skills. Combined, all of these characteristics create insight, which has given me an indisputable ability to navigate the world around me.??

I’ve also appreciated Malcolm X as a human rights leader, Maya Angelou as a poet and writer, and James Harris as one of the first Black NFL starting quarterbacks.

What does Black History Month mean to you?

It is a time for historical reflection, a review of our present living conditions, and a demonstration of our hopes and dreams for the future.

What do you like to do for fun?

I love to read great books, travel the world, write, and listen to great jazz music.?
