TRENT'S DRAINS SEWAGE TREATMENT WORKS IN PAULTON

Paulton Sewage Treatment Works (STW) was revamped in 2006 serving approximately 12,000 residents in the area located 10 miles south of Bristol. The project worth £3.1million seen the plantation rebuilt to keep up with the increased capacity within the catchment and environmental standards. The STW conventional biological trickling filter works are fed sewerage by pumped and gravity fed flows, where it is filtered and treated before being discharged back into the environment.

Trent's Drains were recently instructed to attend site to rectify ongoing issues with various blockages. Trent's first attended site with a tanker and CCTV crew to clear, camera and trace the lines.

The CCTV drainage surveyors identified collapsed lines, fractures and displacements in the pipework, as well as a number of damaged manhole covers. A full report was submitted to the local water authority to carry out remedial actions to rectify all issues.

Trent's Drains were instructed to continue with the recommendations in order to rectify the issues picked up on the drainage survey.

Director Mark Trent on site, getting ready to start works with the team.

Co Founder of Trent's Drains / Project Manager Mark Trent arrived with his team, setting up a safe working environment ready to begin excavations.

Below is a breakdown of the works carried out -

  • The groundworks team excavated the area's where required, cutting any concrete and tarmac surface to ensure a clean finish once complete. They installed a new section of pipework across the highway taking the storm water waste, once the new PVC pipework was bedded in place, the team backfilled and resurfaced the road.
  • They proceeded to cut out two failed manholes, removing the covers and framework. The crew then installed new framework like for like and concreted in place. The surface surrounding the drains were then made good to match existing surface.
  • Finally they dug down via the grass area to reveal the collapsed clay pipework, removing the damaged section and replacing with new.

The site was left clean and tidy on completion. Another successful project carried out by Trent's Drains. See the below YouTube video for a slideshow of the images taken during the projects.
