AFL to enter the Metaverse with NFTs such as Buddy 1000, striking a deal with Animoca Brands

The Australian Football League's taking a punt on NFTs, with CEO Gillon McLachlan revealing at a SportNXT conference on Wednesday that the AFL has plans involving teaming up with Animoca Brands.

McLachlan confirmed that a deal with the AFL Players Association ensures their strategy will see players receive a 20 per cent cut of revenue from the sales of official AFL NFTs.

As to what Lance (Buddy) Frankin's 1,000-goal NFTs will entail, there are talks of animation or video footage in various event takes.

ESPN announced NFT collaboration with Autograph, founded by Tom Brady

ESPN has gone into business with Tom Brady’s NFT platform - Autograph, announcing the website's first NFT deal.

The collaboration kicked off yesterday of an NFT collection based on Man in the Arena: Tom Brady - a 9-part documentary series produced by Religion of Sports, a media company also co-founded by Brady.

The collection consists of three ESPN digital “zine covers”, representing Brady’s career, wins and achievements. 50 NFTs from the collection are signed digitally by Brady, priced at $500 each, alongside another 350 NFTs priced between $100 to $250 each.

The docuseries will be streaming on Hulu, Disney Plus and ESPN Plus for a limited to coincide with this.

The highly anticipated integration between Opensea and Solana is live

OpenSea, the venture-backed marketplace for NFTs, has gone live with its long-anticipated integration of Solana.

With the most recent addition, OpenSea now supports four chains - Solana, Ethereum, Polygon and Klatyn.

OpenSea is likely to significantly chip away at the market share of Solana-centric Magic Eden, which accounts for 93% of sales, according to data provided by Dune Analytics.
