Trench Shoring in Latin America

I have been working in Latin America (LA) for several years promoting the use of Trench Shoring equipment for safety & for economic purpose's. At first it was a struggle to get people interested in using shoring equipment mainly because nobody knew what it was and the cost was not affordable for purchase for just one project. I knew at the time that LA could be a tremendous market for this equipment when I finally sold 8 trench box's to a company in Peru in 2009 and those 8 trench box's were rented in 30 days I knew that I was right and over the years I have sold shoring equipment into Peru, Colombia, Panama, Ecuador, Mexico, Trinidad, Chile and Uruguay mostly for major project's of $10million up to $2billion. It has become very evident over the last 4 or 5 years since countries have been getting very serious about worker safety as it is is the USA, Europe , Canada and other countries LA has become very safety oriented and also a major Rental market, companies prefer to rent not buy equipment. Here is the problem the USA companies don't see LA as a market for some reason they say to me they don't care about work that if one dies in a cave-in they just put anther worker and move on! I can tell you that is very na?ve and short sided they also say they don't have money to pay there bills again very na?ve and short sided, There are more millionaires in LA then in the USA, There is a market 600 million people in LA 34 countries most of the cities are 400 years old or older there are many cities of over 3 million people they all have water & sewer systems they all have the same problems with leaks , breaks , maintenance, replacing old pipes, and there are millions of people without these services and all of these countries are working to fix that with new projects all over the place. The interesting thing is that the European shoring companies have seen the opportunity that there is in LA and are moving in full blast and now have there own rental operations in several countries, no American companies to be found. The worst part is that the people prefer to use the American style trench Box's much more then the European ones by far. It might be a good idea for some American shoring companies to look into this market it is now what the USA market was 30 years ago look at that now.
