Treecreds at Pitch Music & Arts

In our efforts to improve the sustainability of Pitch Music & Arts, we once again partnered with Treecreds for our 2022 edition, which saw a portion of each vehicle pass invested into high-quality carbon offsets generated through forestry-based projects.

We are proud to share that transport emissions for Pitch Music & Arts 2022 were carbon neutral, led by a welcome uptake?in the number of guests arriving by charter bus alongside an increase in the number of forestry-based carbon credits purchased.

Through?purchasing a carbon offset car pass to Pitch Music & Arts, each attendee contributed to 4?forestry-based programs. Read more about these projects below?→

Tasmanian Native Forest Protection Project: The native forests of the Tasmanian Central Highlands have been subjected to logging and agricultural clearing, severely impacting biodiversity in the area. Carbon revenue protects 3269.45 hectares of land from further degradation and encourages the return of endangered and vulnerable species.

Rimba Raya: Rimba Raya protects one of the most highly endangered ecosystems in the world. The project provides a buffer zone between the palm oil industry and the Tanjung Puting National Park, home to one of the last remaining wild populations of orangutans on earth.?This project, and associated programmes in surrounding villages, address all 17 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Southern Cardamom REDD+ Project (Cambodia): This project encompasses parts of Southern Cardamom National Park and Tatai Wildlife Sanctuary and will protect a critical part of the Cardamom Mountains Rainforest Ecoregion – one of the 200 most important locations for biodiversity conservation on the planet. The Project will directly support the livelihoods of 21 villages.

Rio Anapu-Pacaja REDD Project (Brazil): This project focuses on protecting a highly critical region of the Brazilian Amazon renowned for land grabbing.? The aim is to bring stability to the surrounding project areas by paying for and helping local residents known as Riverine people gain land tenure documents and eventually full freehold title deeds. The project has also provided cook stoves to 50 families in the region.
