Treat Yourself with a Reverse Gift List!

Have you ever been so overwhelmed with your caregiving responsibilities that you were unable to accept help when offered? This is not uncommon! Caregivers can become so wrapped up in their duties that they cannot explain what they need. Luckily, Today's Caregiver offers some advice!
The next time you have a spare minute, write down a list of what you need to be done. These things could be quick ("Pick up kids from school"), pleasant ("Spend afternoon gardening with Gramma"), involved ("Meal prep for one full week"), or major ("Take care of Gramma for one weekend").
Next to each task, write the name of a friend or family member who would be willing and able to do it. The next time that person asks if you need help, you'll be ready with a suggestion!
In an ideal world, caregiving is a team sport. Today's Caregiver reminds us that we cannot do this alone. A reverse gift list is a great way to organize and delegate tasks--and make some time for self-care!
