Treasures, Time, Talent.
The renowned author, motivational speaker, and entrepreneur Jim Rohn once said, "Time is more valuable than money. You can get more money, but you can't get more time." This quote serves as a poignant reminder that in the fundraising world, convincing people to invest their time may be more valuable than persuading them to invest money.
Booker T. Washington echoes this sentiment by highlighting that some of our best potential donors are those willing to not only fund the mission but also advance it with their time, hands, and feet. This is an aspect often overlooked by fundraisers who typically focus on monetary contributions. Yet, as Booker T. Washington advises, we should also be asking people for their time.
As we celebrate Black History Month, let us remember that every human being is blessed with talent, time, and treasures. As fundraisers, we should be offering opportunities for them to use all three of these assets to further the mission.
