Treasure trove: #data #analytics and action proposals

Year on year, a fleet of 100 regional trains produce 50 million diagnostic messages, over one billion individual measured values, and up to several hundred million time series values. Then there are work orders, operating data, geo-information, and much, much more besides. A vast treasure trove of information.

However, to allow us to make use of this treasure trove, #data needs to become #information, and information needs to be turned into targeted #actions.

Condition-based maintenance was yesterday’s news. By linking a wide range of data, we can now use #predictive #maintenance to reliably detect components that are at risk of failure, even if the wear rates for these components in isolation do not suggest that failure is imminent.

In the #future, we will be able to optimize the service life of each and every component on an individual basis by means of optimized lifecycle management. We laid the foundations for this approach when we became the first company in the rail industry to set up the first MindSphere Application Center for Mobility (MAC) in Munich-Allach / Erlangen back in 2015.
