Treasure the oasis of rest, even when you must move forward.

Treasure the oasis of rest, even when you must move forward.

While we aren’t at fault for what happens to us, we are responsible for how we respond. Life experiences, trauma, early childhood development, and biology all shape our reactions. Yet, just like building strength or muscle, how we train can change our responses.

You might be a hard gainer in the gym. You may never be a pro bodybuilder, but you can be your best self. How? By eating properly, training hard, and maybe hiring a coach.

Doing nothing won’t get you where you want to be. There’s nothing more defeatist than wanting something but saying, “this is just me.”

The same goes for emotional regulation.

If you’re overcome with grief, anger, or sadness over a news story or social media post, you’re not just empathetic.

You’re emotionally immature. That’s not an insult—it’s an opportunity.

Being a beginner in the gym is great; small changes can lead to significant growth.

Emotional maturity works the same way. Small adjustments can yield big results.

You won’t become a monk overnight, and that’s okay.

Some of us are hardwired to be more emotionally driven. But improving emotional regulation can lead to greater life satisfaction, stability, and happiness.

Stop letting the outside world dictate your internal state. Work on regulating your emotions as diligently as you work on lifting, eating well, or cardio. Your life will be exponentially better.

Or do nothing and stay miserable. The choice is yours.
