Treading lightly.. courageously.. on the path...

There's a very famous Spanish poem by Antonio Machado, titled "Caminante, no hay camino" (Traveller this is no path... you make the path by walking). As we navigate these uncertain times its perhaps more important than ever to recognise we're walking into uncharted territory in so many aspects of our lives. Machado's poem invites us all to walk, and be aware of how we walk, and perhaps the direction we're heading in.

I think in many ways the poem is a clarion call for all of us to become more aware of our own path, how interwoven those paths are, and how they connect us all to each other and nature.

Our research at Wayfairer.coop (supported by WWF-Australia 's I2R Program & Accenture Song ) has shown there's undoubtedly a growing segment of the travel market - perhaps known as the 'conscious traveller'. A traveller not only aware of what they spend but how they spend their money and their time. A traveller that's deeply passionate about nature, the environment, community, connection, collaboration, nutritious food, health and wellbeing. A traveller that wants to actively participate in regeneration. Are you a conscious traveller?

Imagine... booking a walk on country with an elder, going on a mountain bike ride or doing an organic sourdough baking class, buying lunch from a cafe sourcing all its organic produce locally, planting trees and staying in sustainable accommodation...AND 100% of your booking fees supporting koala conservation, a biodiversity project or a social housing project.

This is what we see is possible with Wayfairer!

We're a community owned platform (travellers, hosts, operators and community organisations are all members!) with 100% of booking fees reinvested back into community to support social and environmental projects.

Our current Member campaign is a crowd funding campaign with a key difference... you are joining a cooperative AND a movement for change.

As a multi-stakeholder cooperative we're inviting ANYONE (including travellers) to join us as members. By doing so you're taking a stand and supporting an alternative vision for short term accommodation and experiences in Australia.
