Travelling connects us and makes us happier
Today is special for anyone who works in the fascinating tourism industry. Like every 27th of September, World Tourism Day reminds us of the benefits of exploring the world, not only for people who travel but also for destinations and their local communities.
Travelling is more than taking a break from routine and diving into exciting new experiences. It also entails understanding our planet, connecting with different realities and learning about the natural and cultural heritage of other parts of the world.
As part of this year’s event, the UN Tourism highlights a lesser-known aspect of tourism that is essential for building a better and fairer world: how it helps foster peace and understanding between nations and cultures. Stepping into other worlds is an excellent way to join forces and improve social justice, human rights and sustainable development in cities.
According to UN Tourism, the travel industry is more than just an economic driver. It also ‘has the potential to bring people together in non-adverse circumstances’. This is, without a doubt, one of its biggest strengths.
