Travelling Cities - Render Challenge #8 Top 5
Another week, another render challenge organized by my colleague Fabio Palvelli. Eight straight weeks of challenges have now come and gone, leaving us with a huge amount of amazing work submitted by artists from around the world.
This week, Fabio shifted gears a bit, coming up with a theme which was quite ambitious in its large scope. Travelling Cities did prove to be a complex topic, but despite that fact, there were still fifty brave souls who sent in an entry.
For the live judging show, I was joined by Maria Vittoria Porro, Stuart Lippencott, and Du?an Vuk?evi?. Check it out below if you didn't catch it live.
After each judge chose their own top 10 from the 50 entries, we were left with a total of 18 images to start the judging. After much discussion, we finally narrowed it down to a consensus top 10. Then the hard part started - each judge had to unilaterally decide on one image to remove from the top 10. From the remaining top 5, we vote. The method of voting we use is simple. Each judge orders the remaining five images from 1st to 5th place. Those votes are tallied up, resulting in the final order. This week was another close one, and Fabio was called in to give his votes to help break a tie. The final tally was clear with first place coming in with 9 points, second place with 12 points, and third place right behind with 13. Rounding out the top 5 were fourth place with 18 points and fifth place with 23.
The first place entry from Pol Lupon.
The second place entry from Jaime Diaz Alvarez.
The third place image from Esther Rodriguez and Juan Ramos.
The fourth place image from Stefano D'arco.
The fifth place image by Julia Lomidze and Paul Birman.
