Traveling Dead Drunk

Traveling Dead Drunk

I had a young man sit down next to me dead drunk at the airport not even knowing which airport he was at, remembering how my own brother after facing DWI charges and losing his drivers license and being forced to work at a natural food store as it was the only job he could find that was within walking or bicycle distance of his apartment that would hire a felon. He now is part owner of a chain of natural food stores has completely turned his life around thanks to the criminal justice system and alcohol rehab, and has a lovely wife and two lovely children and a nice house that looks out over the lake and a nice boat. So I summoned TSA and requested they charge the individual with public intoxication, in the hopes that this young man too could turn his life around.  I also hope the airline or bar personnel that served this many drinks to this young man are found and reprimanded, as in the state I now live in bar personnel are libel if a person they serve alchol to causes injury to another and is then found guilty of DWI.

Calling the cops on the kid wasn't very cool of you. You presume that he is constantly like that and needs to turn his life around, but maybe he just got some awful news, or was just having a really bad day. Either way, I think unless he was causing a scene and threatening to hurt others or himself, you should have left the guy alone. Just my opinion though, and you very well might have helped him in a big way.

I like a drink myself, but not even knowing which airport you are at is way over the top -- I have no idea what I would have done in your position -- Max
