Travel Tech Unfolded: From building to crafting
This month, I’ve thought plenty about the art of building multi-day, group travel product. Perhaps my thoughts are shaped by the newest Academy resource we launched, Product Marketing Workshop: Crafting Standout Tour Pages, or several conversations with travel businesses that are moving product onto paper (so to write) after a heavy few months in product development.?
Wherever the inspiration may have arisen from, the idea of building and crafting has stuck. In the multi-day, group travel industry, product managers, destination managers and the like, thoughtfully scout new destinations and source excursions and suppliers that build travel experiences. When working with Intrepid Travel’s General Manager of product, Erica–on a product building course going live this month, you get the sneak peak–we extensively talked about how much research she and her team put into product building.?
From Google to destination visits to supplier conversations, building product takes… time (cliche, I know!). Once the product is in itinerary format, it heads to the “web” to be crafted into a sellable experience. We worked this month with an industry conversion rate optimization expert, as mentioned above, on crafting tours into experiences. Again, time.
