Travaras Journal - On Hope.

It is a very sobering moment when a climate change denier will enter office so close to the consequential 2030 climate change deadline to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions. So, while COP29 is currently happening, it is hard to trust promises made this week, when we know, it might all be rolled back again shortly.

In uncertain times like these, the thing that helps me feel safe is focusing on what I can change, rather than obsessing over the many terrible things that feel out of my control. Instead of succumbing to the hopelessness, that looms so close to the surface, we at Travaras hold on to our vision for a better future.

In our case, this future will be made a reality through travel. We know that by helping our travelers make choices on their journey that support our planet and the local communities they visit while enjoying a more deeply immersive and authentic vacation, we can turn travel into a force for good. This seemingly simple shift made easy through our thorough vetting and curation, can have a meaningful impact.

And just like that, I am sure there are other small shifts in our lives that can help us impact our immediate surroundings and ripple out into the world, spreading hope and change despite the challenges that will surely be put in front of us in the coming years.

It feels incredibly reassuring to see people taking action at every level. They’re not waiting on the federal government. We see our suppliers starting initiatives within their communities, and pushing for change where it matters the most.

And we see our role in a similar way. We are here to inspire others to create change and remain curious. And the way to do it can actually be a joyful one, filled with genuine connection. Something we desperately need in times like these.

So, I truly hope, that you allow yourself to fully feel everything you need to feel right now so that it can be composted into the right action. Our choices matter. And together, we can make a difference!
