Trapped by the Worries of the World - Short Devotion
Do you ever feel trapped?
Maybe it’s a job that you cannot seem to advance in, a relationship that you cannot seem to break free of, or a situation in which it feels like there is no way out. ??
Trust me, you are not alone! My blindness makes me feel trapped quite a bit.
If I am in an unfamiliar setting and my sighted guide walks off, I feel like I cannot move.
If I am at home and realize I need to run to the store, I feel trapped in my own home because I cannot drive and get there myself. ??
When I begin thinking about all of the limitations that my blindness can cause, I feel stuck in a future that seems uncertain.
If you are like me, all of these hardships can make you feel claustrophobic and helpless at times.
When I feel this way, I just want to run! ?????♀?
I want the freedom to escape from my problems or difficulties.
Where do you go to escape? Maybe you go to the gym to work off some steam or to a friend’s house to vent.
For me, I used to run off to the barn, tack up my horse, and hit the trails when I was facing a hard situation that was closing in around me. ??
Recently, when I was struggling with feeling trapped in my circumstances and could not run off to the barn for relief, God placed this message on my heart.
Running here on Earth gets us nowhere. It will just bring us to another problem and we will always feel trapped.
Running to God, though, that is where our true freedom from what binds us can be found.
When we are feeling weighed down by worries and like we just need an escape, we need to turn to the Lord in prayer. ??
He is the only one who has the power to lift those burdens.
Remember this verse when you are feeling trapped by the worries of this world. ??
“The name of the Lord is a strong fortress; the godly run to him and are safe.” (Proverbs 18:10 NLT)
