TRAPPED IN MODERN-DAY SLAVERY: A VICTIM’S ACCOUNT.

TRAPPED IN MODERN-DAY SLAVERY: A VICTIM’S ACCOUNT.

I never thought it could happen to me. I always thought that slavery was something that belonged to the past, something that we had left behind. But I was wrong. Because slavery is still alive and well in the 21st century.

I was just a young woman when I was taken from my home. I was living in a small village in Africa, just trying to make a living like everyone else. But then one day, everything changed. I was walking home from the market when I was approached by a man. He seemed friendly at first, but then he grabbed me and threw me into a van.

I was terrified. I didn't know what was happening or where I was going. All I knew was that I was being taken away from everything that I had ever known. When we arrived at our destination, I was thrown into a dark room with several other people. We were all scared and confused, and we didn't know what was going to happen to us.

But then we found out. We were going to be sold. Sold to the highest bidder, like we were nothing more than objects. It was like we were living in the past, in the days when black people were sold at auction.

I was sold to a wealthy family in another country. They treated me well at first, but then things started to change. I was no longer a person to them, but rather a piece of property. They made me work long hours, without any breaks or time off. They would beat me if I didn't do what they wanted, or if I made a mistake. Ripped off my dignity and made nothing before men.

I tried to escape, but it was impossible. I was trapped, with no way out. I felt like a prisoner, a slave in the modern world. And I knew that there were many others like me, trapped in the same situation.

It's hard to believe that slavery still exists in the 21st century. But it does. And until we acknowledge it and do something to stop it, there will be many more victims like me, trapped in a world of modern-day slavery.
