Transparent SharePoint
Point of view article. My personal opinion.
A customer asked me this question again recently, which led to this article.
" … If we map our SharePoint libraries to folders, them users can just access the documents from the file system …. So do we not tell them to use SharePoint anymore?..."
In my opinion, SharePoint is / should be invisible to the users. They should leverage its services when they sync their OneDrive, or Open a document from the file system, or Share a document from within Office apps, or Approve a flow from within Teams, or when they search for 'work' content from Edge.
There are so many places where users access SharePoint services without knowing it. And that's how it should be.
It's not about trying to change user behavior.
It's about meeting the users where they live. In Office Apps, and Browser, and Teams.
