Spring 2023 Trend: Sheer?Fashion

In a season full of stand-out shows, frantic news cycles, star-studded front rows and an array of directional messages, sheer fashion dominated the trend conversation.

“We love the idea of ‘deconstructed grandeur,’ where sheer layers (ubiquitous across the collections) reveal corsetry and bustier construction in ways that feel distinctly modern,” said?Moda Operandi’s April Hennig?on the?trends?of the season. Bergdorf Goodman’s Linda Fargo called it “body-pride-inspired dressing,” referring to the transparent layers and outward undergarments.

The Rick Owens show,?a fashion-industry favorite, delivered some of the best sheer styles of the season. “Newer and completely seductive were his languid and revealing gowns with long trains; his giant tulle skirts, and his swishy chiffon trapeze tops, constructed with endless godets,” wrote WWD’s Miles Socha in his review.

EXCLUSIVE First Look: Louis Vuitton’s ‘200 Trunks, 200 Visionaries’ Exhibition Reaches Its Final Stop in New?York

Louis Vuitton’s “200 Trunks, 200 Visionaries”?exhibition?has reached its final stop, touching down in Manhattan and transforming the former Madison Avenue home of legendary retailer?Barneys?New York.

First unveiled in December in Asnières-sur-Seine, France, at Vuitton’s historic residence northwest of Paris, the traveling showcase headed to Marina Bay in Singapore last April and?Los Angeles in September, before culminating in?New York?City.

The production marks house founder?Louis Vuitton’s bicentennial birthday. He was born in 1821 and founded the luxury house in 1854.

Among the 200 trunks, (which will be auctioned at Sotheby’s at the end of the year, with all proceeds donated); are creations by K-pop group BTS; Supreme; Lego; The Simpsons; activist Gloria Steinem; Kim Jones with Supreme; Marc Jacobs with Stephen Sprouse; makeup artist Pat McGrath; architect Peter Marino; astrologist Susan Miller, and cognitive scientist Scott Barry Kaufman.

Virgil Abloh’s Version of Mickey Mouse Now for?Sale

The Walt?Disney?Co. is jumping onto the?Virgil Abloh?bandwagon.

Disney?and?Virgil Abloh?Securities, the late designer’s creative company, have teamed up to offer never-before-seen artwork of Mickey Mouse as reimagined by Abloh.

Abloh’s artwork features the designer’s unique interpretation of the famous character printed in various colorways on a select assortment of products.

All That Glitters and a Lot of Gold at New Musée Yves Saint Laurent?Exhibition

“One day, my name will be inscribed in gold letters on the Champs-Elysées,” a 15-year-old?Yves Saint Laurent?once told his family.

The “Gold: Les Ors d’Yves Saint Laurent” exhibition, opening on Friday in Paris, marks 60 years since the couturier’s first eponymous collection by exploring his love of glitz.

Its concept came to museum director Elsa Janssen, who also serves as curator for this?exhibition, when she delved into the institution’s reserves. “I saw gold everywhere. It sparkled — lamé, belts, shoes — it was fabulous,” she recalled.
