  1. Social Impact Job. Manager, Social Impact. KPMG. KPMG in Canada is looking for an experienced Social Impact Manager to help drive, innovate and strengthen the Impact portfolio within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), which encompasses various community sponsorships and internal volunteer program. The role will also provide communications support for GTA initiatives/events, in alignment with KPMG's values and Regional Leadership communication programs. Click the link for more information.
  2. Working at the level of Systems. Food banks, social housing, support for abused women and children - these are all vital social services that are integral to our way of life - but while they address immediate needs they are not key to solving the challenges that caused those situations to occur. To do that, we need to operate at the systems level. It's hard work and it's even harder to finance. Recently MIT Sloan Sustainability Initiative published 9 Levers Impact Investors Can Use to Create Systemic Change by Alban Yau - they are: Solution experimentation; Solution scaling; Orchestration and network; Data and knowledge; Human capital; Physical infrastructure; Established company behavior; Social norms and public awareness; and Policy and regulation. Join the movement to think and act like a system and check out Alban's research on How Can Impact Investors Enable Systems Change?
  3. Tech for Good. Many years ago, I had the privilege of working with Kids Help Phone when they were exploring a text messaging program to augment their phone line. They have always been great innovators. Today they announced their latest research, resulting from their collaboration with the Vector Institute , "The FAIIR Tool: A Conversational AI Agent Assistant for Youth Mental Health Service Provision". You can read the research results here - keen to know what you think?

According to Mariana Catz SVP and Chief Innovation Officer Kids Help Phone ...

"Since the start of 2020, Kids Help Phone has had more than 20M interactions with young people seeking support. The #FAIIR Tool leverages conversational #AI (domain-adapted and fine-tuned transformer models) to assist in the administration of support services for #youthmentalhealth, aiming to enhance support for the frontline in these critical areas."
