Transitioning from Product Management to Business Value Specialist
Ruth Agbasimalo
I help B2C founders build scalable, profitable startups that deliver real value to their customers.
It's been exactly one year and one week since I left my last 9-5 job, and guess what? I finally figured out what I want to do! I initially took a break to complete my MBA and focus on my skincare business, but this time also gave me the opportunity to dive deep into discovering my true purpose.
The more time I spent away from the traditional 9-5 grind, the more I realized that I didn't want to go back. Don't get me wrong, working at a bank had its moments. But I often felt like I was navigating through a maze of bureaucracy and office politics. Promotions seemed to be more about how long you'd been there rather than the actual impact you made.
For someone like me—who thrives on tackling challenges and finds repetitive tasks boring—this was far from ideal. I wanted to be recognized for my hard work and creativity, not for playing office politics. I'm the kind of person who speaks the truth, even when it's tough, because I believe in honesty and integrity (always respectfully, of course!).
I like to think of myself as a Swiss knife, ready to handle any challenge. I studied Computer Engineering and started my career as a software developer for 4.5 years before transitioning into product management for another 3 years. Then I decided to go for my MBA. This diverse background means I can effortlessly bridge the gap between technical and business worlds.

I can chat about optimizing your app with load balancers one minute and then pivot to discussing how these changes will impact your business model and financial strategy the next. Now, I’m stepping into an exciting new role as a Business Value Specialist. I’ll be drawing on my product management experience, MBA education, and entrepreneurial journey.
My mission? To help founders speed up their path to success using data-driven strategies, customer insights, and solid resource planning. I believe every idea is just an experiment until we have real data to support it. And the first thing to build isn't always the app itself—sometimes, it's about building an audience first. This transition feels like a natural next step for me.
I’m thrilled to bring my unique blend of skills and perspectives to help new businesses flourish. My journey has shown me that understanding customer needs, managing resources wisely, and focusing on concrete results are the keys to success. I can't wait to apply these lessons in my new role and make a real impact with budding startups.
