The transition from Retail to Recruitment.
After completing one year in recruitment, I can genuinely say that I've never been happier with my career change.
?I initially began as a part-time sales assistant during my college years, gradually progressing to full-time and eventually becoming a manager for over two years. However, after a decade in retail, I felt the need for a new direction in my professional life and an opportunity to explore a different industry.
I wasn't actively seeking a position in recruitment, and to be honest, I had limited knowledge about it. After some research into the recruitment world, a conversation with a friend, and an interview with CREGG Recruitment, everything fell into place. Now, a year later, I can confidently say that I've thoroughly enjoyed my time in recruitment, learning and growing along the way.
Life as a recruitment consultant has been both challenging and rewarding. While there are similarities between recruitment and retail, such as dealing with people and working towards optimal outcomes for candidates, the transition has been a significant learning curve for me. My background in retail has provided me with a better understanding of the needs of candidates, proving beneficial in my journey with CREGG.
Recruitment has its share of ups and downs, with challenges like candidates not showing up for interviews or cancelling last minute. However, the positive experiences far outweigh the setbacks. The recruitment industry has equipped me with essential skills in communication, critical thinking, and organization, all of which contribute to my career advancement.
Moreover, working in recruitment has allowed me to strike a balance between my personal and professional life, a quality that was sometimes elusive in my previous retail role. As I continue in recruitment, I plan to further develop my skills, stay abreast of industry trends, and explore opportunities for ongoing professional growth.
