Transition from homeschooling to traditional schooling: neurodivergent learners
It has been a while since my last article. My children and I have transitioned to the K-12 school system. My neurodivergent daughter is in a parochial school, and my neurodivergent (autistic) son is in a very mediocre and damaging unique educational program. I am still trying to help educate my children.
As for me, I am back in the NYC DOE public school classroom after leaving NYC DOE almost a decade ago.
I have much to share, and I will start writing weekly articles again. For now, I'm musing about the horrible mathematics curriculum—Illustrative Mathematics—that has been forced upon NYC DOE middle and high school teachers. I'm trying to work with it. I may write some articles on this curriculum at some point.
Catch you next week.
