????Attention all U.S. Military Aviation Maintenance Professionals!!! ????
Contact me if you have any questions. I would love to help you achieve sustainably competitive credentials and education to augment your experience. Not trying to sell you a course, or pitch you to join any group, just sharing information with you on what worked for me.
Over the years I have found great joy in #mentoring US #Military #Aviation #maintenance professionals both #veterans and some still in active duty, on obtaining their civil aviation maintenance credentials and university degrees.
For some, it's in preparation for separation, for others means of increasing their competitiveness for in-service opportunities and promotions. I recently had such a conversation and felt motivated to launch this newsletter to make this information known for those interested on how to leverage your military service and secure your A&P License, Bachelors and Masters Degrees in 3 years!
Hint: It will be tough and requires commitment but if I managed to do it, any of you can!
The 3 Step Process is as follows:
Step 1: Leverage your military aviation maintenance experience to obtain your #FAA #Airframe & #Powerplant (A&P) License.
Step 2: Convert your A&P License into a #Bachelors Degree at a #University offering a Bachelors of Science in Aviation Maintenance Management
Step 3: Use the time it would have taken you to normally get a Bachelors (4Years) to obtain a #Masters Degree in what you are truly passionate in. (#Business , #Engineering , etc.)

Let’s dive into Step 1!
Step 1: Leverage your military aviation maintenance experience to obtain your #FAA #Airframe & #Powerplant (A&P) License.
Once you obtain your 8610-2s from the FAA Inspectors near you. Look for an A&P trade school that offers A&P examination courses with established DME contacts.
I utilized Bakers School of Aeronautics in Nashville. Their program is well recognized, respected and has been around for a long time.
You can expect an accelerated program where you will prepare for your written, oral and practical examinations. In 11-13 days you can walk away from their campus with your license complete.

Two weeks of your time and you can have a life changing credential in your hand.
Let's dive into Step 2.
Step 2: Convert your A&P License into a #Bachelors Degree at a #University offering a Bachelors of Science in Aviation Maintenance Management.

Many Universities around the country offer and provide transfer credits for Military Service, Experience, Licenses and Certifications obtained. I explored this opportunity quite heavily when executing this process for myself and found the Aviation Maintenance Management Program at Liberty University to be one of the most generous providing 45 Credit Hours for your A&P towards a Bachelors of Science in Aviation Maintenance Management.
The credits for your A&P plus all the credits you will receive for your military training, courses, etc. can create a unique situation where you walk into the first day of College with 90 out of 120 credit hours needed for a Bachelors in the books. I can say this with confidence because this is what I did.
This means that in just 2.5 semesters at 12 credit hours (4 Classes) per semester you can, in 1 year complete your Bachelors of Science in Aviation Maintenance Management. If you are more motivated you can do it in just 2 semesters.
What are you waiting for???????
Most recent university graduates lack the years of experience while most experienced military aviation professionals lack the civil and university credentials.
Become the standout candidate for your current or desired organization. This time next year you could be done if you start now!

Ok, so if you made it to Step 3 by now you should have your FAA Airframe & Powerplant License and your Bachelors of Science in Aviation Maintenance Management and it's time to pursue that career changing Graduate Degree. This step is likely the hardest but most enjoyable step of the whole process because you get to go learn something you are passionate in.
Here is my Masters Degree journey for context. I had my earned Post 911 GI Bill benefit and since it only took me 1 year to finish my Bachelor Degree I had plenty of benefit left over to get a full Masters for $0.00. My passion has always been Business and Strategy and I was lacking some insights and skills necessary to take my career to the next level.
My MBA took me 3 semesters to complete and in total about 1.2 years.
Was it challenging? - YES!
Did I have free time on the nights and weekends during that year? - NO!
Was it worth it? - ABSOLUTELY!
At the end of my MBA program I was now a 20 year aviation maintenance professional, I had experience conducting technical sales and business development leadership, customer service and support with a well diversified background consiting of defense aviation, unmanned systems and civil aviation. Pair this up with an MBA and you have a unique set of capabilities that WILL differentiate you and create opportunities you never imagined would be available to you.
