Transforming Your People Into Value Creators

The performance of a company is based on the cumulative performance of every employee in that company. One employee can sink a whole company. In order to avoid that, most companies recruit their employees based on skills and attitude. That way you reduce the risk that the person will hurt the company.
Entry-level were created to ensure that those who come in have a mentor through whom they learn the way to work and develop the necessary mindset and capability to maintain the status of the organization. It’s more like we want you to be trained in the way we work here so you can do what we expect.
Imagine a workplace where everyone is a value creator? Is that possible? Yes, it is. When the rate of value creation within a company is greater than the rate of change outside a company, the company will be a monopoly in the market it is serving. It will be the one initiating change for everyone to follow. However, it’s hard for many companies to maintain value creation within it.
In every organization I have served and worked in, I have created value in every position I have held. As a teacher in a Secondary School, I created value for the students, colleagues, principal and parents. I didn’t do it by accident, but intentionally. I focused on creating value for the stakeholders.
That is exactly what Truly Human Companies are all about. They create value for all the stakeholders and ensure that all of the stakeholders creates value for others. They have a culture that fosters altruism. This is a great attitude where everyone focuses on creating value for each other.
Whenever I work with an organization or people to become Value Givers, that is, people who are continually creating and adding value to others and to the organizations where they work, there are some key tools and strategies that each person needs to have. The combination of all these tools gives the organization a new form of capability that enhances its capacity to continually create value.
The life of a value giver is all about learning, growing, creating, and improving themselves so as to continually create value. Their job description is the creation of value. Here are some personal conditions for creating value:
1. If you don’t see value in yourself, you won’t create value for others
2. If you don’t see value in yourself, you won’t see value in others
3. If you don’t think you are worth it, you won’t add value to yourself
4. If you don’t think you are worth being valuable, you won’t think others are
5. If you don’t think other people are worth adding value, you won’t create value for them
Value creation is the expression of who you are, and how you see and feel about yourself. Every employee needs to have healthy self-esteem to start creating value. Take care of the man and the company will be taken care of. This is where the culture of the company comes to play. When you treat your employees as humans with care, respect, and dignity, you will be healing their self-esteem.

To create value, every employee should:
1. Ask the Value Creation Question: To create value, they will need to focus on others. That is where the Value Creation Question comes into play. It opens up an opportunity to understand others in order to create value for them. You won’t be able to create value for people you don’t understand. The insight you gain from understanding them is what they will use to create value.
2. Make The Value Creation Decisions: They have to make a number of decisions that will enable them to focus on creating value for others. What separates Value Givers from others is the kind of decisions they make. Others may make decisions to earn more, Value Givers make decisions to give more value than they get in payment.
3. Develop The Value Creation Mindset: We see opportunities with the mind. There are opportunities all around us. Those who develop the value creation mindset are able to see opportunities that others are unable to see it. You can only capture what you see. We help employees to develop Value Creation Mindsets so that they can see opportunities in challenges and be able to transform challenges into opportunities.
4. Focus on Their Unique Capability: Every employee needs to have unique sets of skills that create a capability that sets them apart. When everyone has their unique capability in the organization, it gives the company unique capability in the industry and marketplace. That sets the company apart. It means the company can capture opportunities that no other company serving in their marketplace can. That makes them a monopoly.
5. Engage in Unique Capability Collaboration: When people have similar capabilities, it’s hard to collaborate. That’s because they bring the same skills set to the table. Instead of collaborating, they will compete. Competing doesn’t make the future of the company bigger. You cannot create value when you are competing. You copy or maintain value. However, with each employee having a Unique Capability, collaboration becomes easy. When Unique Capability Collaboration happens new forms of values are created that transform industry.

2 年Oladimeji Olutimehin I love all the "If you don’t see value in yourself" statements. The world is a mirror. What we see in ourselves, we can give. if we don't see our value, our purpose will illude us and we will be caught in the trap of others - people-pleasing and enslaved to their manipulations. Seeing your value, being a value giver is where the true impact, true joy in your work is found. And all stakeholders benefit from an organization of value givers, not the least of which is ourselves. Keep giving value my friend. ??
