'Transforming Your Imagination Into Reality'

A blend of creative and technical ability and passion. Specialist in working with wood and epoxy resin to make beautiful and unique products.
I was tasked with creating a new installation in the reception area of our business offices, something that represented the company slogan:
Transforming your imagination into reality'
At Roland DG we manufacture wide format digital print/print and cut devices, engraving machines and milling machines - so I wanted this installation to showcase a variety of applications from these devices, steering clear of the usual flat 2D wall graphics.
I started with a series of 3 sketches, each based on the same concept but with varying degrees of cost and complexity/difficulty.
One of these was developed further, until I had a list of designs and applications that I could work to.
The idea was pretty simple, each part is meant to be an embodiment of the word i.e.
Transforming - showing the process of design through to output
Your - made of consumer items
Imagination - something bold and bright
Into - direction
Reality - each letter made by a different process
We filmed the process to create a short video, check it out!
The finished piece really stands out and grabs your attention when you come into the building. It is also a nice reminder that you're only limited by the capabilities of any given technology...how you work within these constraints is the fun part. All in all there are 19 different applications in the installation.
What do you think? What would you have done differently?
Above is a link to the feature in the Roland DG news section on the website, which lists the different applications.
