Moreover, the shift to hydrogen as a cleaner alternative faces its own hurdles, chiefly the scarcity of low-carbon hydrogen. Scaling such technologies demands a significant increase in the production of green or blue hydrogen.

Achieving carbon neutrality, especially in high-emission yet hard-to-abate sectors like steel, is imperative. The International Energy Agency underscores the necessity for G7 economies to embrace policies promoting transitional technologies that significantly cut emissions. The World Economic Forum's First Movers Coalition exemplifies global efforts to decarbonize industries, with commitments from numerous companies and countries to procure materials and transport solutions from eco-friendly sources.

This decade is crucial for setting the stage for climate neutrality, demanding a radical transformation in how steel and other materials are produced. The journey to green steel is complex but essential for a sustainable industrial future.
