Transforming societies with grassroot innovation

Today’s world needs a culture of innovation that spurs local entrepreneurs to solve local problems for local communities that in turn create local jobs . CiscoThingQbator is a step in that direction to build a community of entrepreneurs at the grassroot level starting from universities. In this program Cisco provides the resources and guidance to educational institutions and seeks an equal contribution from the students & who are willing solve problems by leveraging technology to transform societies and communities as part of their educational program.

We were thrilled to host @B V Jagadeesh, world renowned serial entrepreneur from Silicon valley, to mentor students for the first and second cohort of the IIT BHU ThingQbator program and Indira Gandhi Women’s College, New Delhi. The world needs more role models like B V Jagadeesh who dedicates 50% of his time today in giving back. We were indeed honored to have him share his thoughts on uplifting societies with sustainable enterprises.

I was truly impressed and energized by the ingenuity of the students in addressing hyper-local problems with innovative approaches. The students’ projects are getting better and bolder with every passing month and few of them are now launching live prototypes in different cities. This is great outcome from this big experiment of grassroot innovation.
