Every Organization, across geographies and industry sectors, is looking to transform their IT infrastructure to meet the growing demands of their end users. Delivering flexible, scalable, and agile services to their end users is the most important priority for them today. The pace of technological innovations is rapidly increasing and utilizing these technologies allows them to explore new business opportunities for Organizations in a hyper-competitive marketplace.
IT Service Providers have now become more important than ever for these Organizations. They are expected to provide innovative IT solutions to address today’s key issues and ensure that future challenges are anticipated. For IT Service Providers, expertise in technologies such as Software Defined Infrastructure, Cloud, Devops etc becomes an important point of differentiation. To deliver maximum value, IT Service Providers will need to become strategic partners in their Customers’ business journey. They must first shift their focus from the day-to-day operational IT to building transformational solutions that can take their Customers’ businesses to the next level.
Implementing technology transformational projects requires tight alignment between Customer Organization and the IT Service Provider. This can be achieved through regular connects with the Customer stakeholders to build and maintain relationships. Regular Customer connects also helps the IT Service Provider to be in-sync with the Customer’s business vision, allowing them to better align the solutions with the business requirements. The Service Providers would also have to be aligned with technology vendors to build innovative solutions that address customer specific challenges.
The rapid pace of technology innovations means that IT Service Providers need to be on their toes to rapidly adopt new developments. The demand for skills in niche technologies is ever-increasing and investing in the right talent management initiatives has become a key priority for Service Providers. They need to set up internal upskilling and cross-skilling programs in niche technologies for their employees. These programs would have to be tailored specifically to improve the employee proficiency in digital skills. The organizational culture would also have to adapt to the requirements of the new generation of workforce.
Service Delivery is the foundation on which all the points mentioned above rest on. The quality of Service Delivery will determine the willingness of the Customer Organization to stick to the same IT Service Provider in the long term. Implementation of solutions with niche technologies will require the support of proven process frameworks and governance mechanisms that can ensure that the projects are flawlessly delivered, and Customer Delight is achieved.
It is imperative that IT Service Providers understand the market dynamics from both technology and business standpoint. In the face of increasing competition and evolving Customer demands, they must craft their services to provide solutions that add value to businesses. They must take the lead to collaborate with cutting edge technology vendors to build and deliver industry-relevant solutions that address the pressing challenges of Organizations.

7 年Pradeep - I would like to add what you have already written. Providing a superlative customer experience to the customer based on much deeper client intimacy (understanding the customers and what is most critical for them). Well written Anuj Bhalla

7 年My take-away from this: Service Providers continued success and survival depend on (1) Strategic Partnership (2) Client Intimacy (3) Cutting Edge Skills. From a general point of view, this has always been true and continue to remain so. What has changed really is the pace, depth and width of each of these. Thanks for sharing Anuj Bhalla.
