Reflections on my first six months as CEO at Integrated Graphene
In many ways it feels like yesterday I first stepped into the Integrated Graphene offices. But as I reflect on the past six months, I realise what huge strides forwards we’ve made in this short time to put the business on a path to sustainable commercial success.
Integrated Graphene has always been infused with a strong sense of purpose: using our next-generation technology to make a positive impact on the world, creating solutions that benefit a wide variety of people and contributing to a more sustainable economy.
Working in close collaboration with the senior leadership team, I’ve focused on developing a commercial strategy that translates this purpose into a clear vision for the company. And that vision is to partner with ambitious upstarts and innovative market leaders to deliver superior sensitivity, sustainably.
Transforming point-of-care medical testing, today
One of my first tasks was conducting a comprehensive review of our go-to-market strategy for our nanomaterial, Gii.
The business has for some time focused on developing in-house proof-of-concept products to demonstrate Gii’s revolutionary performance potential.?
One brilliant example is our patented and world-leading electro-chemical electrode, Gii-Sens, which is transforming point-of-care diagnostics in healthcare.
Taking advantage of Gii’s superior sensitivity, Gii-Sens can accelerate the performance of point-of-care diagnostics tests by replacing commonly used sensing materials, such as gold to detect antigens, antibodies, macromolecules and more.
Not only does Gii-Sens outperform current sensing materials in terms of sensitivity, it is also considerably more sustainable and cost-effective.
In the short term, we are laser-focused on working with our customers to bring Gii-Sens powered point-of-care diagnostics tests to market, and we have made some huge steps in this space I’m excited to share with the world soon.

From product-centric to customer-centric
We have developed a new strategy around partnering with our customers to create and integrate Gii into their sensing products.
For example, rather than focusing on building a series of new products from scratch, our in-house experts will work with customers to integrate our proven Gii-Sens technology into their existing processes. In the case of medical diagnostics, we will help customers to develop assays by enhancing existing processes, or designing new ones.
This strategic shift from product-centric to customer-centric, from a focus on creating predefined products to co-creating integrated solutions for our customers, has been very well received to date and is helping us expand into new markets worldwide.
A team all on the same page
When I joined, I held interviews across the company to find out what people really thought about the business, their jobs, and what they thought “success” meant.
The clear message across all levels was that “success” means commercial success. Gii is a potentially revolutionary material that has multiple uses. But success for our business does not just lie in academic papers - we need Gii to be rolled out in multiple use cases across multiple industries. It was fascinating to hear this point made again and again.
Our new strategy needs to be the rallying cry that unites everyone for the next stage in our company’s journey. Our collective company vision is to harness Gii to deliver revolutionary performance for our clients and their products, sustainably and at scale, today.
Our strategic shift to be a partner for sensing solutions, rather than a retailer of specific products, coupled with our laser-like focus on transforming the point-of-care diagnostics market today, positions us well for sustainable growth and success over the next three years.
My first six months at Integrated Graphene has been a period of intense growth, not just for the business but also for me personally. Each day brings new lessons, and I find myself relishing the learning process, constantly striving to make a positive difference and improve in every way possible. Together, we aspire to become a deep-tech powerhouse, to set new standards of excellence and to redefine what is possible for our clients.
