Transforming Lives Through Media

The ministry of SAT-7 is unconventional as the ministry uses satellite television and digital platforms to reach audiences across the Middle East and North Africa, bypassing traditional barriers to the gospel. Unlike conventional ministries that rely on physical church gatherings, SAT-7 broadcasts directly into homes, making it accessible to individuals in regions where churches are restricted, Christians are persecuted, or Bibles are hard to obtain. Its programs are tailored to diverse cultural and linguistic contexts, airing in Arabic, Farsi, and Turkish. They include innovative formats such as children's shows, dramas, educational content, and live call-in programs. SAT-7's media use enables it to foster connection, deliver discipleship, and provide pastoral care on a large scale, reaching millions who might otherwise remain isolated in their faith. This approach demonstrates creativity and adaptability in bringing the gospel to some of the most challenging areas in the world.

Six New Stories From the Unconventional Ministry SAT-7:

  • Christians in parts of the Middle East (who always have reason to hope in God) have reason to hope for positive change right now -- the cease-fire in the Holy Land, Lebanon's inaugurating a new President, and cautious hope in Syria for greater freedoms under its new leaders. Some displaced people are returning to their homes in Lebanon and Syria, and the few hundred Palestinian Christians who remain in Gaza, devastated by a conflict not of their making, now have some relief in their suffering.
  • However, we must continue to pray – the situation for Christians in Sudan, Yemen, Libya, and Afghanistan remains absolutely dire. 18 of the 25 countries SAT-7 serves are on the new World Watch list of the 50 worst places to be a Christian. 5 of the "worst" 10 are in SAT-7 viewership. Many SAT-7 viewers are living, worshiping, and witnessing in dangerous and difficult circumstances.

  • The beginning of a new year brings new SAT-7 programs to support their faith in these circumstances. For the first time in years, a live show is going out from Cairo and broadcasting multiple days per week, focusing particularly on providing biblical support for youth and family life. (Its name is Naseej, meaning Fabric—as in we're all woven together.) The program is already receiving a high level of engagement.

  • A second new project is another first for SAT-7 – the same project approached in three different languages and customized for three different contexts (Arabic, Persian, Turkish). Each channel recently launched a new program based on resources from SAT-7 Partner Lutheran Hour Ministries , which addresses felt needs such as mental health, loneliness, and addiction through a Gospel-focused response.
  • Young people remain a particular focus for SAT-7. They are often worst affected by humanitarian needs—for example, so many are displaced, injured, etc., in Gaza and Sudan, and they have lost all security along with their homes and education. The new live program "Jesus is Our Strength" continues to encourage these children with hope in Jesus, and children continue to respond, showing amazing faith under the circumstances. "My School" is also available to displaced children, who may gain enough normality to pick up their education.

  • As new believers, including young families and youth, return to Syria after having met Jesus while in Lebanon or Jordan, SAT-7 KIDS programs offer a lifeline of spiritual support and community for a vulnerable group with great witness potential.

Broadcasting in Arabic, Farsi, and Turkish, SAT-7 reaches audiences in their heart languages, offering Bible teaching, worship programs, children's shows, and practical life content. In a region where many Christians face persecution, isolation, or limited access to churches, SAT-7 serves as a virtual church, strengthening believers in their faith and connecting them to a larger Christian community. The ministry's value lies in its ability to address geographical barriers, support minority Christians, and share God's love in a region often marked by conflict and division. By providing trustworthy, Christ-centered programming, SAT-7 empowers the Church to grow, thrive, and be a light in the darkness.
