The speakers at this year’s “Breaking Through” celebration delivered a powerful reminder of just how impactful the Genesys Works experience can be for the youth who participate in our program.??

Our board chair, Darryl Henry , framed it beautifully when he explained that it’s exceedingly difficult to become what you haven’t seen. This is precisely why exposure through professional internships is life-changing.??

That was certainly the case for Elijah Coulter, our Class of 2024 keynote speaker. Elijah said he’s gone from someone who knew nothing about the professional world “to a fully capable and achieving intern who can say with confidence that he can make a path for himself in the corporate world.” And we have no doubt that he will!??

Terrell Shaw , our alumni speaker, encouraged Elijah and his GW classmates to “seize every opportunity for growth” and to understand that “every interaction holds potential, and every decision shapes the person you will become.”??
