Siemens Healthineers has introduced a range of advanced diagnostic imaging solutions, including the helium-free MAGNETOM Flow 1.5T MRI, which minimizes helium usage while utilizing AI for faster and more precise scans. The SOMATOM Pro. Pulse Dual Source CT scanner is designed to accommodate patients with high heart rates or limited breath-hold capacity, enhancing both user and patient experiences. Additionally, the company launched the MULTIX Impact E, a locally manufactured digital X-ray system that delivers high-quality imaging with low radiation exposure, catering to secondary care facilities. In the ultrasound segment, Siemens showcased the Acuson Maple, a portable AI-powered device for diverse clinical needs, and the Acuson Sequoia, which features advanced tools for liver and musculoskeletal imaging, further improving diagnostic?accuracy.
Nagpur's GMCH Launches First Nuclear Medicine Department for Advanced Diagnostics and Treatment
The Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Nagpur, has inaugurated the first nuclear medicine department among state GMCs at its Super Specialty Hospital, enhancing diagnostic precision and treatment effectiveness. Operational since January 5, the facility utilizes gamma cameras to detect cancer, assess treatment response, and diagnose conditions related to the heart, thyroid, renal transplants, and neurological disorders. The department’s establishment, initially approved in 2017-18 with a budget of Rs8.3 crore, faced delays until Dr. Raj Gajbhiye took charge, securing final approval with a Rs9.5 crore sanction. Nuclear medicine provides functional imaging at a cellular level, allowing early and targeted interventions, particularly benefiting cancer and cardiac patients by optimizing treatments and avoiding unnecessary procedures. Since its launch, the department has already conducted 11 DTPA renal scans, 5 thyroid tests, and 3 bone scans, marking a breakthrough in Maharashtra’s healthcare?infrastructure.
Coimbatore to Get Rs 29.67 Crore Medical Analysis Lab to Boost Device Safety
A medical analysis laboratory worth Rs 29.67 crore will be established in Coimbatore with contributions from both the Centre and state governments, aiming to ensure the safety and efficiency of medical devices and products. Announced by M. N. Sridhar, Director of the Drugs Control and Controlling Authority, the lab will also generate jobs for analysts and support training programs for drug inspectors to enhance their skills. The event also marked the entry of European firm IMQ Group into the Indian market through its joint venture Elettra Tech Labs Pvt Ltd (IMQ India). Led by CEO Stefano Ferretti and COO Kiran Raju Narayan, IMQ India will focus on medical device testing and advanced inspection technologies, contributing to India's industrial growth, innovation, and workforce development under initiatives like the Production Linked Incentive?Scheme.

Philips showcased its latest AI-enabled medical imaging technologies, including the CT 5300 system and helium-free 1.5T wide-bore MRI with BlueSeal magnet technology, which significantly reduces helium dependency, making MRI operations more sustainable and cost-effective. The CT 5300 integrates AI-powered features like reconstruction and motion correction, enhancing diagnostic accuracy and workflow efficiency across cardiology, oncology, neurology, and emergency care. Philips also presented SmartSpeed MRI for faster imaging, the MR 7700 3T MRI for advanced research, and the Spectral CT-7500, a dual-layer CT scanner improving pathology identification. Additionally, the company highlighted its ultrasound solutions, including EPIQ Elite and Affiniti, which combine high-quality imaging with improved workflow. These innovations reflect Philips’ commitment to AI-driven efficiency, precision, and automation in medical?imaging.
Abbott Launches Navitor Vision Valve for Advanced Aortic Stenosis Treatment
Abbott has introduced the Navitor Vision, its latest TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation) system, in India, providing a minimally invasive solution for patients with symptomatic severe aortic stenosis who are at high or extreme surgical risk. The Navitor Vision features enhanced markers for improved implantation accuracy and visibility, ensuring greater precision during procedures. TAVI replaces the damaged aortic valve through small incisions, reducing recovery time and risks compared to open-heart surgery. Neeraj Singh from Abbott’s Structural Heart Division emphasized that the Navitor Vision enhances treatment options for heart valve diseases, improving life expectancy and quality of life.
