Engaging Young People to Build a Health Information Technology Workforce
New technology is helpful only if it can be used well. That’s why growing career opportunities in health information technology is essential to the sustainable improvement of health systems through digital transformation. In Ethiopia, we worked with local universities to bring recent graduates into the health information technology sector.
Climate and Digital Health
Digital health can help us mitigate climate change by improving early warning systems, streamlining disaster response, and enabling data-driven solutions. Through our CHISU Project, human and zoonotic data have been integrated and connected to the information systems of Burkina Faso's Ministry of Health, Ministry of Animal and Fisheries Resources, and Ministry of Environment, Green Economy, and Climate Change.
Gender-Sensitive Perspectives
Women engage in health care more frequently than men, but they are less likely to be involved in digital solutions. JSI helped Ethiopia’s Ministry of Health launch an initiative to create women data champions, aiming to usher in a new generation of women leaders in digital health.
Transforming Health Information Systems with Advanced Technology Post-Conflict
Severely disrupted by conflict, Tigray’s health information system had to be rebuilt. Through the new electronic community health information system, Ethiopia's frontline and community-based health extension workers are using advanced technology to offer higher-quality and continuous care.
