Transforming field inventory management – Why we invested in Ventory

Following the announcement of our investment in Ventory , we wanted to shed some light on the rationale behind our investment and why we are excited about the market opportunity and the company.

Why this matters

Managing field inventory — particularly in remote, mobile, or decentralized locations—remains a significant challenge for companies that rely on traditional ERP, WMS, and TMS systems. These systems excel in centralized environments but struggle to provide real-time visibility and control at edge locations, such as vans, customer sites, and consignment stock. This lack of visibility leads to stockouts, excess inventory, and operational inefficiencies, directly impacting service levels, costs, and business continuity.

As global supply chains grow more complex and fragmented, companies are actively seeking flexible solutions that can provide seamless inventory management across all locations. Ventory’s innovative software solution fills this gap, enabling businesses to manage inventory efficiently in edge environments, where real-time insights can drive cost reductions and operational improvements. At a time when supply chain disruptions can lead to significant financial losses, solutions like Ventory's are becoming critical to maintaining competitiveness.

Why Ventory

Ventory stands out due to its strong leadership, simplicity, scalability and market adoption. Founded in 2023 by Vishal Punamiya, a seasoned entrepreneur with deep experience in logistics and IT from his time at DHL and Panalpina, Ventory delivers a user-friendly platform that integrates seamlessly with existing ERP systems, providing much-needed visibility in field operations.

"Having spent over 13 years within the logistics industry for global players such as Envirotainer, DHL and Panalpina (now DSV) - there was a clear trend in the industry - enterprises across the board were storing more inventory in the field than ever before. Existing systems were complex, un-economical and not agile enough to address this new business reality." - Vishal Punamiya, Ventory CEO ?

Ventory’s platform offers advanced features such as real-time tracking, smart scanning for faster cycle counts, and mobile support for offline operations. For example, DHL, one of Ventory’s early adopters, has reported significant benefits using the solution: a 53% increase in cycle count efficiency, a 70% reduction in stockouts, and a 35% reduction in excess stock. These early successes highlight the platform’s ability to deliver measurable improvements in supply chain efficiency and cost savings.

An important aspect of Ventory’s go-to-market strategy is its strategic partnerships with industry leaders such as DHL, Microsoft, and Zebra to help scale the business and reach new markets. Its low-code/no-code integration allows quick deployment with minimal disruption, making it an attractive option for enterprises looking to optimize field inventory management without overhauling their existing systems.

Going forward

We have participated in Ventory’s €1.75 million seed funding round, alongside Finindus , to support the company’s expansion. Ventory is focused on scaling its operations, growing its team, and enhancing its platform with new features, such as order and recall management, to meet evolving customer needs. With deployments already in over 15 countries and more than 1 million transactions processed year-to-date, Ventory is demonstrating the scalability and value of its solution.

Looking ahead, Ventory aims to expand its customer base across multiple industries and geographies, capitalizing on its growing market demand. The company’s clear roadmap for additional ERP integrations and product enhancements positions it well for long-term success. We are confident in Ventory’s potential to become a leading provider of field inventory management solutions and are excited to support their journey toward transforming the way companies manage distributed inventory.
