In the suburbs of Vikhroli, Mumbai, the traditional teaching methods were facing significant challenges within the society.? The conventional educational system struggled to cater to the diverse needs of students, leading to a disparity in learning outcomes. Recognizing these challenges, the? Whole School Transformation Program emerged as a response, aiming to break free from these constraints and provide a more inclusive and dynamic educational experience. The initiative sought to address the systemic issues in Vikhroli's educational landscape, fostering an environment where every student could thrive and excel. Sankalpa Kamble, a Resource Person (RP) of commendable dedication, has played a pivotal role in the success of the project.?

Being an RP under the Whole School Transformation Program, Sankalpa was trained on the academic pedagogy. That training paid off and she emerged as an RP with expertise in implementing Multi Grade Multi Level (MGCML) strategies from Grade 1 to Grade 5. This MGML strategy has been instrumental in integrating various teaching-learning materials, resulting in a substantial impact on student growth. Under Sankalpa's guidance, students in Vikhroli have demonstrated remarkable improvements in listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Notably, the students witnessed a remarkable growth of 53% at the project's endline assessment, more than twice their baseline assessment of 26%. This achievement reflects the effectiveness of the Whole School Transformation Program in addressing the diverse learning needs of the community.??

The multifaceted approach of the program, aligned with the Learning Roots for Life (LRL) curriculum, has been pivotal in enhancing proficiency in English and Mathematics. The curriculum, tailored to individual needs and implemented in phases, starts with Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) providing targeted bridge courses to bridge significant gaps in learning. Sankalpa's hands-on involvement ensured that the program's objectives are met with precision, fostering an environment of educational excellence.??

Moreover, language and mathematics sessions were conducted using a multi-group, multi-level approach, where students with varying levels of learning skills were grouped together. This included students with Low-Order Thinking Skills (LOTS), Middle-Order Thinking Skills (MOTS), and High-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). By working collaboratively in mixed-ability groups, students' confidence was boosted, and attention was given to addressing the needs of all learners, including those with lower-order thinking skills.? It has boosted the confidence in students and made them better at working in groups. It made them more organised and cultivated a culture of peer learning. ? ? ?
