Transforming bone health with HealthPlix EMR

Osteoporosis is a medical condition in which bones become incredibly fragile and weak. In India, where the demographics are rapidly evolving, osteoporosis poses a significant health challenge in the day-to-day activities especially among elderly. Thus, real-world analysis is instrumental in advancing our understanding of osteoporosis epidemiology and optimizing its management.?

HealthPlix EMR offers data from routine clinical practice, and practical insights that could lead to more efficient, patient-oriented, and scientifically sound strategies for managing this widespread and significant bone health condition. The data from HealthPlix platform depict that approximately 18,000 patients* reported osteoporosis, the majority were within the age group between 50 – 80 years.

It was observed from the data that the number of female patients was exponentially high when compared to that of the male. Back pain was the most recorded complaint followed by knee pain and weakness. The information obtained from the EMR also illustrated the importance of some lifestyle changes in the management of osteoarthritis as the physicians advised patients to do neck and back exercises, avoid sitting on the floor, reduce weight, etc.

With World Osteoporosis Day (Oct 20) just gone by, it is essential to comprehend the crucial role of EMR as it offers population-level insights, tailored intervention approaches, and monitoring treatment regime. By leveraging the power of data, EMRs might lead to a future where osteoporosis is proactively managed.
