Use Case: Maps and Navigation

How Does the App Know Where to Go?

AI is integrated into navigation applications, enhancing user experience by identifying the best routes, roadblocks, and traffic congestions. Using machine learning, the algorithms remember the edges of buildings and improve map visuals, house number recognition, and traffic flow understanding. This enables the app to recommend routes that avoid roadblocks and congestion.

Natural Language Processing (NLP)

NLP employs various computer science and computational linguistics techniques to help machines interpret and comprehend spoken and written human languages. With NLP, algorithms can translate and analyze human language, minimizing the communication gap between humans and computers.

Use Cases of NLP:

Generative AI

Generative AI is a type of AI technology that can produce various types of content, including text, images, audio, and synthetic data. While NLP systems primarily analyze data and make predictions, Generative AI creates new content similar to its training data.

Use Case: Financial Document Search and Synthesis

Banks spend significant time searching for content, summarizing information, and managing documents internally. Generative AI helps bank employees efficiently find and understand information in contracts (e.g., policies, credit memos, underwriting, trading, claims, and regulatory documents) and other unstructured PDFs, such as summarizing the regulatory filings of a bank.

Understanding Generative and Predictive AI

Generative AI

Generative AI focuses on creating models capable of generating new data samples that resemble the patterns found in the training data. It uses techniques like Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) and Variational Autoencoders (VAEs) to generate new data based on the patterns of the original dataset. It has applications in image generation, text generation, music composition, video synthesis, and more.

How Does It Work?

Generative AI starts with a prompt, which could be in the form of text, musical notes, or any input that the AI system can process. It creates content as a response to the prompt: text to text, text to image, text to audio, or text to code.

Process Flow:

1. User enters a prompt.

2. Model identifies language patterns.

3. Model analyzes the context.

4. Model processes the prompt.

5. Output is generated.

Predictive AI

Large Language Models (LLMs)

LLMs process prompts by identifying and analyzing language patterns, generating required content using large datasets and numerous parameters. Generative AI applications are built on top of LLMs and foundation models. LLMs excel in language processing tasks by consuming and training on massive datasets.

These applications are used by end-users through crafted prompts to guide and generate new content from LLMs.
