SPOTLIGHT: How the Portuguese waste management company Lipor, is now able to transform its food waste

On May 6th 2024, LIPOR proudly opened its Green Waste Park in Laúndos Portugal, with a Waste Transformer in its center. Now food waste can be valorized from municipal waste collected by Lipor's waste management trucks.

Legislation tracker: Are EU's food waste reduction targets ambitious enough?

The EU is making history with its first-ever target to reduce food waste, but are they ambitious enough to drive real change? Initially, the European Commission proposed a 10% reduction in food waste during processing and manufacturing, and a 30% cut at retail and consumption levels by 2030. The European Parliament, however, has pushed for bolder targets: a 20% reduction in processing and manufacturing and a 40% cut across retail, restaurants, and households by 2030.
