A Transformational Night at Petco Park

Welcome to Law Life

In this first issue, I want to provide context to the Law Life newsletter. The newsletter's essence cannot be fully appreciated without explaining a pivotal moment in my life—a night that dramatically altered my personal and professional trajectory. In my TEDx talk, I discussed a transformation, but I never specifically explained the night everything changed.?

The Turning Point During Quarantine

The COVID-19 pandemic brought unprecedented challenges for all of us, especially lawyers. The courthouses shut down, phones stopped ringing, and people were forced to stay home. Suddenly, my law partner and I faced daunting uncertainty about the future of law firms. Dependence on busy court schedules turned into a quiet void with more questions than answers. During this time, we decided to dive deeply into learning how to run, grow, and scale our law firm more effectively and, in turn, serve and help more people in need.

One evening during quarantine, my partner enrolled us in a webinar, sparking a series of educational experiences from business plan boot camps to sessions with fractional CEOs and masterminds. This learning path led us to redefine our practice, which now thrives with seven attorneys as a team of former prosecutors specializing in criminal defense, domestic violence, and municipal court cases across New Jersey.

The Transformational Night at Petco Park

The transformational night at Petco Park happened when I attended a business seminar in San Diego. The lineup included marketing guru Billie Gene and speakers like Dean Graziosi, an owner of ClickFunnels, and Daymond John, whom I was eager to learn from. However, the last speaker, whom I had never heard of, changed my life forever.

Ed Mylett was there to promote his book, The Power of One More. He shared lessons intertwined with stories that deeply resonated with me, focusing on faith, relationships, body and mind, and business. It was the emotional connection that his stories fostered within me. That night, I started to immerse myself in Ed’s content, listening to his audiobook Max Out on the flight back home, reading The Power of One More, and then binging on Ed’s podcast episodes, which I still listen to today.

Here is a video I took of Ed Mylett that night, inspiring me with his The Power of One More message. In the video, Ed talks about the parents of the Uvalde school shooting victims and the idea of them having one more conversation with their children. He donated all the proceeds of his book to the victims' families.

Following My Inner Council – Reclaiming Time

These experiences and lessons shifted my mindset from an overwhelming grind, grit, hustle, poor diet and fitness, and late nights to a clear, focused intention with healthy habits and routines. As I explained in my TEDx talk, Following Your Inner Council—Reclaiming Time, this mindset shift helped me redefine what I consumed and focused on (garbage in, garbage out). I also installed habits and routines for consistency, clarity, purpose, and intention.

Listening to Ed’s podcasts introduced me to mentors like Brendon Burchard, Tony Robbins, Tim Grover, Alex Hormozi, and Jon Gordon, whose teachings have profoundly influenced my personal and professional development approach. I continue to learn daily, focusing on leadership, communication, parenting, nutrition, fitness, personal development, marketing, technology, and artificial intelligence.

I share this backstory to illustrate the foundational experiences that have shaped the principles I will bring you in this newsletter.
