The transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly typifies the hero’s journey of inclusive leadership development. This metamorphosis is an apt metaphor for the process of personal and professional growth that leaders must undergo to create an equitable, inclusive workplace culture beginning with the leader’s inner work and personal transformation.?
To embark on this transformative journey, it is essential to begin by reflecting on one’s own biases and privileges and embracing complex emotions while suspending judgment to consider multiple perspectives. Leaders must then be willing to push past their comfort zone, take risks, and trust their intuitive guidance even when discomfort arises as they move through periods of change in which fear and insecurity can arise due to unfamiliarity.?
Understanding our fear of change can help us find power in differences as we embrace new possibilities with any form of change. Finally, walking through a metaphorical “fire of initiation” awakens?courage and strength as we strive towards creating A-Player Leaders who can drive positive change for their business.??

As a leader you should keep an open mind and understand that change is inevitable in business and personally as well. Once change is embraced at the top, it will filter throughout the organization. When the staff witness the leadership embracing the change, they are more likely to follow, but it will take time with the old guard. I feel that transformation is a continual growth process in leaders and necessary to run a successful organization. I am new to this community, so I learning more about the A Player.
