Various studies show that people achieve 800% more with a good coach than without one. You’d be hard-pressed to find an athlete, musician, CEO, or any other professional at the top of their game who does not have a good coach in their corner. True sustaining transformation requires all hands on deck. Those who are disengaged will eventually become a drag on progress. The stark reality is that most people don’t have the self-discipline, willpower, or confidence to modify their own behavior as required for transformation. This is why coaching is so important. Everyone who is trying to achieve a challenging goal is better off with the right coach. However, it would be impractical on many levels to try hiring a professional coach for every employee in your company. It’s far more effective for each person’s immediate manager or leader to serve as their primary coach. This would require leaders to develop coaching skills to help their people thrive and succeed. Here are a few behaviors that coaches have that traditional managers often don’t:
·????????Coaches challenge and expect a higher level of achievement from Improvers
·????????Coaches ask good questions to get people to find answers
·????????Coaches focus on developing one new skill or capability at a time

·????????Coaches use repetition, and sometimes drills, to reinforce good behaviors or habits
·????????Coaches facilitate the use of “specialists” where appropriate
·????????Coaches take it personally when their people aren’t thriving
Continuous Improvement is the ultimate mechanism for systematic transformation. Leaders/coaches should apply FIT cycles for each iterative improvement to maximize learning, discovery, and talent development at every transformation step.
